Tenure

Fellowship support is to be used in consecutive quarters during the first five years of graduate study at Stanford University. Years of graduate study at another institution are not included. Any support not used in the first five years of graduate studies is forfeited.

Interruptions in use of the award will result in the forfeiture of the affected quarter(s) unless a request to bank, the quarter of fellowship support is approved, or if the quarter of fellowship support is reserved for later use, as allowed by the leave of absence policy.

Early Start

Recipients of new awards may begin tenure early, during summer quarter, when approved by the recipient's department or program.
